Wanderlusting - North America http://wanderlusting.org/taxonomy/term/1/0 en Tale of the neverending flight that ended in the cold of minneapolis http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/tale-neverending-flight-ended-cold-minneapolis
So, I'm in Minnesota. Everything "they" say about the winter here is true. It's cold. And when I asked if this was typical I was told "no, this is great. we're in a hot spell". Thanks.

On my way I flew from Mendoza to Minneapolis via Santiago (Chile), Dallas, and St. Louis. The wine made it safe including not even paying to import 12 bottles. In 2000 when I was a grubby looking young person they gave me the full checkdown when I declared I was bringing in only 6 bottles. Was it my new style of wearing collared shirts? My baldness? Good luck? I may never know...

http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/tale-neverending-flight-ended-cold-minneapolis#comments Knaddison Spanish Tour English Latin America/Caribbean North America Mon, 25 Feb 2008 14:38:17 +0000 greg 351 at http://wanderlusting.org Top 7 Tips for Travelers at Denver International Airport http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/top-7-tips-travelers-denver-international-airport
Whether for work or for business I've made a lot of trips through Denver International Airport. Along the way I always make it a game to see how I can get through the building as fast as possible. I'm not talking about running (though I do walk quickly) just shortcuts and processes that will ensure I'm spending the lest of my precious time in such a big slow building. A lot of these are good general travel tips, but there is a clear DIA focus.

Tips for Departures from Denver International Airport

You're leaving, on a jetplane. These delightful little balls of chocolate, wafer, and caramel are an Argentine specialty that people who have been to Argentina almost always fall in love with. It's a local specialty and something to bring back to share with other travelers.

http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/argentine-specialties-and-us-specialties-in-argentina#comments Knaddison Spanish Tour English Latin America/Caribbean North America Wed, 27 Jun 2007 19:38:42 +0000 greg 192 at http://wanderlusting.org thought for the day: help a lost traveler http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/thought-for-the-day-help-a-lost-traveler
So, as we continue our preparations for the knaddison global tour of Spanish speaking countries this morning I was walking through the bus terminal in downtown denver trying to find my bus when I found an Aisan man who looked lost. I asked if he needed help and he said yes. It turns out that he was going to Boulder and in fact going to somewhere very close to where I work. So, I offered to walk him most of the way there. He's from Guangzhou (the third largest city in China, apparently) and was very happy with my limited Chinese phrases (nee hau, shi shi).

http://wanderlusting.org/blog/greg/thought-for-the-day-help-a-lost-traveler#comments Knaddison Spanish Tour English Advice North America Wed, 30 May 2007 17:18:57 +0000 greg 191 at http://wanderlusting.org Memoirs of a Geisha http://wanderlusting.org/blog/heatherfife/memoirs-of-a-geisha
<

div id="mb_0">

<

div>

<

div>Obviously, this is not going to be a very academic argument. I read Memoirs ten years ago and although this was my pre-liberal arts education time and my mind had not yet been ideologically molded to fit films into theory I was still aware that there was something incredibly disturbing about the book. A white man writing about what life is like as a glorified Asian prostitute. I broke my toe, became
re-addicted to coffee, didnt sleep longer than six hours any night I
was there, and wept openly in front of 20 people on top of a moving
ladder (*I HATE heights), but I had the best time and was involved in
one the most moving and fantastic theatrical experiences I have ever
had. Meeting at 4:00 usually means we leave at UPOC ontime 5:00, but Friday was particularly slow for us. The cast of characters for this trip was Martin O'Malley in his outdoors debut since he went into MCAT studying hibernation, Tico Gangulee showing up for another round of "getting really high" on rock for his usual adrenalin rush, Iris Antes back for more zany German one-liners, the ever lovable Liz Caffrey as the only person who likes the same music as Marty, and myself, Greg Kneser, as the guy who lost his penis. We knew that the trip was going to be good at 2:00 that afternoon when Marty and I picked up our van from National: Rastro.

http://wanderlusting.org/north-cackalacka-upoc-style#comments English North America Story Thu, 16 Feb 2006 03:51:23 +0000 greg 77 at http://wanderlusting.org Getting Some Grand Tets http://wanderlusting.org/getting-some-grand-tets
This August Marty flew out to crazy CO to hang out and go climbing. He arrived while I was still working to "acclimate" to the altitude before we hit the Big Boobies up in Wyoming. [Author's note: the Grand Tetons in Wyoming were so-named by some frogs...I mean Frenchies back in the day because they look like Grand Tetons which in english means giant chesticles. You'll note that I use both the original French version of their name as well as American euphamisms whenever possible. For example, "them knockers up in Wyo" is equivalent to "the range known as the Grand Tetons in the great state of Wyoming"] We had a good time. We made some great new secret energy/rehydration drink we like to call Funk-Ade. You can have some if you want but we will never reveal the secret ingredients.

http://wanderlusting.org/getting-some-grand-tets#comments English North America Story Tue, 31 Jan 2006 03:21:34 +0000 greg 74 at http://wanderlusting.org Just because it's pink http://wanderlusting.org/just-because-its-pink
Friday night was party night. At about 1:00AM I ran into some friends of some friends: Annie Henderson and Amy Goh. In conversation, they mentioned that they were running a 10 mile trail race on Sunday, which was also Annie's birthday, hence Henderson Challenge. My thought process: run the 5k on campus you signed up for that's going to be lots of Penn people, or run a 10mile trail race with a bunch of crazy old folks. The decision was simple.

Saturday night I went to a party where I saw my friend Jess in a cowboy hat. Realizing I was running in a 10 miler the next day and was out drinking the night before, I decided that was far more cowboy than her simple partying and passing out, so I stole the hat to wear the next day.

http://wanderlusting.org/just-because-its-pink#comments English North America Story Fri, 20 Jan 2006 03:10:12 +0000 greg 72 at http://wanderlusting.org Walking Down the Street http://wanderlusting.org/quote/walking-down-the-street Did you hear that?
