After my first post on Mexican Spanish Slang I wanted to share this blog I just came across that is devoted to swearing in Mexico City.

http://swearindf.blogspot.com/

It's a compilation of some very slangy curse words that made me laugh and laugh. The author provides mini-dialogues with translations to really give you the idea. Very good stuff.

just came to my attention and I wanted to post it here because the photos made me realize just how much of the world I have yet to explore. What a huge and wonderful world we live in!

From the article:

The Earth Observatory is a website run by NASA's Earth Observing System Project Science Office (EOSPSO). Bringing together imagery from many different satellites and astronaut missions, the website publishes fantastic images with highly detailed descriptions, feature articles and more. Gathered here are some standout photographs from the collections in the Earth Observatory over the past several years.

Some Slang Used In Mexico
I don't know it all, but here are some of the slang words and uses I have picked up in Mexico. Some of them may actually used in other Latin American countries as well.

Güey- Probably the most used slang in Mexico. It is like "dude," and is used ALL the time (pronounced almost like “way”).
Pinche- fucking (adj.)
No manches- No way! Not to be used in formal situations.
No mames- No way! The cussword version. Definitely do not use this in formal situations. literally it basically means don't blow me.
Mamada- blow job
@- used when a word can be male or female, to represent both the “O” and the “A” in the word.

http://wanderlusting.org/blog/brook/money-power

Hello again, from the biggest city in the world!* A few weekends ago, I went to a very fresa bar with some of my lawyer friends here (young feminist lawyers from the organization I work for). Fresa, in Mexico, means rich, snooty, haughty, etc. Literally, it means strawberry, and it is used to describe the upscale young people of which there are multitude in Mexico City. First clue: you have to buy a bottle to sit a table, and bottles were around US$130. WHAT!? Bottles of alcohols like Bacardi and Absolut cost about US$15 in the grocery stores here.

I like to think that one of my all-time top MMMs was seeing a bunch of little white dogs in a box in a hardware store with a sign that said $ Poodles French $. They were decidedly not French poddles. They were, however, shaved in the form of french poodles, even though they didnt have the curly hair required to sport that little poof-ball doo.

Recently I have seen several little white dogs here in Coyoacan that have their ear hair dyed different colors. Ever time I see a dyed doggie I have to chuckle, and remember how happy I am to be in Mexico.
