Hola Amigoches~  I'm here in Mexico City for a day by myself until Steve Unckles gets here to join me for some old fashioned touristing.  I LOVE MEXICO!! As soon as I stepped off the plain I just felt so happy and at-home and thrilled to be back.  I notice the huge difference in confidence from when I first came to Mexico.  In the airport, I bought a phone card and a starbies latte (I know, I'm going to hell) and got my ticket to take a taxi to the Centro Historico.   I got a room in a hostel from the Lonely Planet but I later walked around and found a real hotel with private rooms and bathrooms for a lot less so we'll move there tomorrow when Steve gets here.  I can't do the couples vaca in a shared room!  I spent the afternoon walking around and remembering why I love Mexico so much.  I saw a man making key copies with a hacksaw in front of the National Cathedral, a woman selling tamales and little tiny brown speckled eggs, a security guard at a gold shop secretively dousing himself with cologne in a corner.  I notice all the things I forgot I missed about Mexico like the people carrying juice in bags with straws, the way every store or stand has someone outside yelling their wares and prices (Diez pesos, tortas a diez, passale joven!), great pirate cds-- I just went up and asked for one with the new Shakira and they hooked me up.I love this country, I love being here.  I can't wait to show Steve the sights and in two weeks I'll be going to the wedding of a friend in Celaya.  I'll keep posting!
