I went to a pueblito in the campo today with the colposcopy team which was fun, and now there is a young med student girl here, I’m like why didn’t you come earlier!? She’s really young (they don’t do undergrad if they are going to med school here, they just do med school so she is like 20.) but she lives right in my neighborhood and we have coffee and sometimes walk to work together.
I think I am going to be able to sneak in some email at my clinic tomorrow which is awesome because their computer offices are like the only places in the whole fucking city with air conditioning and it is fucking oppressively hot here. And tons of mosquitos, and dengue fever, did I tell you? I got a mosquito bite on the bottom of my foot which is annoying and if I am going to get dengue I’m almost sure that will be the bite that does me in. It has been a lot easier, however, since I decided to leave a little sooner, to appreciate the awesomeness of being here.

I am so not excited about diseases.
Nikki and I went to a travel health office here in Denver that specializes in immunizations. I should write more about them. Basically, they gave us all sorts of pills that have made us feel like crap for the last few days and then she scared us about Dengue for a little while and now we’re going to shower in 100% deet every morning. Awesome.
Last summer when I left Juchitan I got diagnosed with Typhoid. When I came back to a doctor in the US she reprimanded me very strongly for not having used bug stuff. I always just had the attitude that they’re going to get me no matter what I do but look where it got me… Typhoid!
Mosquito bites are the bane of my existence. Those little guys love my blood. But I am working on putting a curse on them at the moment.
